I took off from Allegheny County Airport, and flew about an hour and half for the training. Luckily, I made friends with a person who is a researcher in Carnegie Mellon and has a flight instructor certificate. I flew with him.
The most of the photos are from the discovery flight for my friend (the flight for making a decision of whether to start a flight training for a certificate). When he was in the cockpit, I was sitting in the back seat of Cessna 172 and took those photos. When I was in the cockpit, I couldn't take photos.
Initially, I was supposed to fly a Diamond Eclipse. However, due to the maintenance schedule, I flew a Cessna 152, which is similar to the airplane I was trained in Arizona -- Cessna 150. I felt very comfortable in it. I need to re-practice procedures and radio communications, but I think soon I'll be able to fly with more confidence. The traffic in Allegheny County is much more sparse than Honolulu Int'l. I didn't panic with radio communication. Yet, I missed some call from the tower and the instructor answered those calls. I'll be able to do better after some more practice.
I'll try to fly once a month. Hopefully, I'll go for the biennial flight review by the end of this year.
Taking off from Allegheny County Airport
Flying north. In this area, above 4000ft is
Pittsburgh Class B. We need to fly at about 3000ft Below this
altitude is crowded with medical helicopters.
Carnegie Mellon University campus. Behind the
campus is University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning (tall building)
Arbitrary shots. I saw a lot of golf courses.
Coming back to the airport across the river. I
tried to spot my apartment building, but I was not successful. Maybe
next time.
